Christmas Charities Loses Everything to Fire
Clothing, school supplies, and other items collected by Christmas Charities YearRound were destroyed by
fire Saturday 4 August. This isn't really specific to our neighborhood, but this organization provides
a valuable service to the less fortunate in our community. With school starting so soon, help is really
needed!
How you can help:
- Donate money to the Christmas Charities emergency fund at the United Way of Madison County
- Donate school clothing and/or school supplies at the Christmas Charities site on Cook Avenue
(a mobile home has been donated as a temporary office, and a nearby storage facility is providing storage space)
- The local TV stations are sponsoring a "Christmas in August" drive for Christmas Charities on Friday, 10 August from 5 am to 6 pm

City of Huntsville Flood Mitigation Plan
Public Meeting: July 9, 2001 7 pm City Council Chambers City Hall
The Flood Mitigation Planning Committee presented the draft plan to the public, and
citizens had the opportunity to comment on the Plan and ask questions.
This is of concern as many of the homes in our neighborhood are in or very near a flood plain. Any
of us who are not currently in a flood plain may be affected by future development or poor city planning.
